Description: Originally built in 1852 on the site of a mid-eighteenth century building that was burned in 1849, this “brick store with a residence above” was a rental property until purchased in November of 1863 by Thomas Griffin, a member of the 30th Virginia infantry.

Thomas Griffin had a large part in the first gas lights installed Fredericksburg.
